Karen J. Jewell age 64 of Andover, passed away Sunday April 26, 2020 at her home.  According to her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a private family graveside service will be held Friday at Smith Cemetery.  The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for Karen at this most difficult time.      Karen was born on Dec. 30, 1955 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Donald and Jeanne (Struve) Johnson.  She graduated from Northeast High School. She married Henry Jewell on Sept. 4, 1992 in Andover.  Karen worked at Mercy North Hospital, Clinton in housekeeping for over 30 years.  She enjoyed fishing and was an avid Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Dallas Cowboys fan.

 

     Karen is survived by her husband, Henry Jewell of Andover; her daughter, Shanna Jewell of Maquoketa; four brothers, Jim (Sue) Johnson of St. Joseph, IL, Dwaine (Deb) Johnson of Clinton, Dan Johnson of Goose Lake, and Dennis (Natasha) Johnson of Andover; her sister, Colleen (John) Huling of Clinton; and her mother, Jeanne Johnson of Camanche.  She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation:

None.

Graveside Service:

According to her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a private family graveside service will be held Friday at Smith Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.

    To the entire Johnson family,

    It was a shock to hear the news of Karen passing..  I have a lot of good memories with all of us at Grama and Grampa Struve.

    I'm very sorry for your loss, Uncle Henry. We are thinking of you and Shanna at this time. I had a nice visit with Aunt Karen at the nursing home before we got  locked down. She told me all about her visit with Shanna the day before and showed me the pictures. She will be missed.
