Judith K. “Judy” Pray, age 73 of Clinton, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 from injuries received in a car accident in Illinois. In following Judy’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-3 PM on Thursday December 13, 2018 at the Pape Funeral Home where a memorial service will begin at 3 PM. Judy was born in Clinton on December 22, 1944, the daughter of Edward and Bernadine (Mangelsen) Pestka. After attending night school she graduated from Clinton High School with her son in 1982. She attended Emporia State University for 2 years. Judy married Marvin C. Schreiner on August 30, 1963 in Moline, IL. She later married Jack Pray on June 4, 1977 in Clinton. She had been employed at the Clinton Garment Factory, Bennett Box and Don’s Drive Inn as well as doing housekeeping for several clients. Judy was a member of Prince of Peace Church and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Eagle’s Club in Emporia, Kansas. She enjoyed keeping busy and going out to eat. Judy had taken a mission trip to the Dominican Republic in 2009.
Judy is survived by her husband, Jack; a son, Marvin Ray Schreiner of Jacksonville, FL; two step-children, Paul (Karen Muetzel) Pray of Clinton and Christine (Chris) Rixen of Clinton; 4 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; her twin brother, Jerry Pestka of Clinton; a sister, Marilyn Streets of Mission, TX; her niece Debbie (Robi) Chowdhuri of Atchison, KS; three nephews, John Kohl of Clinton, Steve Kohl of DeWitt and Dwain (Sara) Womack of Davenport and several great nieces and nephews including Jeff (Brandy) Dithmart of Rock Island. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Dori De-Ann Jamison in 2014 and a step-granddaughter, Angie Cooper.
