James R. Thomson, age 67 of Clinton, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday Dec. 7th at the Pape Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held Thursday 4 – 7 PM at the funeral home.  Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Cemetery.  Casket bearers will be Justin Butt, Rick Rannfeldt, Dan Carlson, Tom Broadrick, Mark Spooner, and Mike Pringle.  Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

 

      Jim was born on Nov. 30, 1951 in Clinton, the son of Ralph and Shirley (Lamont) Thomson.  He was a Clinton High School graduate.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was married to Sabrina Cochran.  Jim worked in maintenance at Lyondell for many years.  He was a member of the Andover Lions Club.  He enjoyed sports, football, NASCAR, riding motorcycles, and playing chess.  Jim loved fishing, hunting, trapping, camping, was proud of growing big pumpkins, and especially spending time with family and friends.

 

     Jim is survived by his four sons, Jason (Melinda) Thomson of Preston, Eric Thomson of Clinton, Josh (Candice) Thomson of Sabula, and Adam (Jessica) Thomson of Camanche; seven grandchildren, Heidi, Elsie, Austin, Owen, Tucker, Greta, Iris; his wife, Sabrina; a brother, Greg (Theresa) Thomson; three sisters, Janet Thomson, Barb (Robert) McKone, and Donna (Ron) Graziano; and several nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Mark and Paul Thomson.

Visitation will be held Thursday 4 – 7 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday Dec. 7th at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Cemetery.

    My deepest condolences goes out to the entire Thomson family during this difficult time!  Jim was a wonderful father, grandpa, uncle, husband and friend! The world will not be the same without him!  I’m so sorry ❤️ If there’s anything I can do to help please don’t hesitate to ask.     I am so proud to have call Jim my friend. As a person that has few real friends in life, I am proud to call Jim and those in his family as those amongst those in life. Jim you were loved and will be missed dearly. Enjoy life in Valhalla, trap fish hunt and grow huge pumpkins my friend. You are missed,my friend and that is an understatement.
