          Charles R. “Charlie” McDonnell, age 64 of Clinton, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at his home.   A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Prince of Peace Parish.  A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4-7 PM on Thursday, October 25th at the Pape Funeral Home.   Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

 

     Charlie was born in Clinton on March 14, 1954, the son of Robert and Violet (Malone) McDonnell.  He graduated from Clinton High School.  Charlie had been employed at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, at ADM in Clinton, the Mississippi Belle II and the Frontier Motor Inn.  He was a member of the Eagle’s Club.   He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, shooting pool, mowing lawns for friends and family and checking on the guys at Munck’s.  He followed the Chicago Bears, Iowa Hawkeye’s football and Iowa State basketball.

 

     Charlie is survived by two sisters; Donna Klahn and Mary McClenning both of Clinton; his brother, Gene (Cyndi) McDonnell of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Peggy McDonnell of Lynn Center, IL; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and his dog “Blue”.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Thomas; a sister-in-law, Faith McDonnell; a great niece, Savannah, and a great nephew, Beau. 

Gathering of Friends

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4-7 PM on Thursday, October 25th at the Pape Funeral Home.

Mass:

A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Prince of Peace Parish.
