Mike was born on Nov. 6, 1962 in Clinton, the son of David and Paulene (Russell) Herch. Mike graduated from Clinton High School in 1981.  He married Christine Legel on Aug. 17, 1990 in Honolulu, HI.  Mike worked at Lyondell Basell Industries as a Process Safety Manager for over 18 years. Despite his sickness, Mike was dedicated to his job and never let his illness define him or limit his activity.  He was an avid outdoors man and especially enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. Many memories were made in duck blinds and on the Mississippi River with friends he’s known for over 40 years. He was known to be quite the handyman, where family said he could fix anything. Especially small motors and various home and car questions he took from his wife and kids. When he was feeling well, he loved to tinker in his garage and repair old four wheelers and dirt bikes and spend time with family and grandkids.

Mike is survived by his wife, Christine Herch of Clinton; three children, Eric Witt of Spokane, WA, Emily (Garret) Reddish of Mt. Vernon, IA, and Andrew Herch of North Liberty, IA; three grandchildren, Braylon, Jack, and Lucy; his parents, David (Paulene) Herch of Clinton; two brothers, Gary (Cindy) Herch of Camanche and Peter Herch of Clinton.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
