Notes:
Jorge V. Poblete, age 67 of Clinton, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Eagle Point Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3rd at the Pape Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 PM. Following the service cremation rites will be accorded with burial at a later date in Oakland Cemetery.

Jorge was born in Santiago, Chile on February 11, 1952, the son of Jorge and Irene del Carmen (Vargas) Poblete. He came to America on July 1, 1976. Jorge married Cynthia Ray on December 29, 1979 in Clinton. Cynthia passed away on July 9, 2017. Jorge had been employed with Kopp’s Market, Drives, and Jetter Hauling before owning and operating River City Disposal. He enjoyed music, hunting, fishing, going to the casino, and gardening, especially tending to his roses. He loved spending time with family and his beloved dog Zeus. On weekends, he took pleasure in entertaining friends and family in his custom party garage.

Jorge is survived by 5 children; Lee (Lori) Ray of El Paso, TX, Cynthia Sue Ray Van Horn of DeWitt, Stacy Ray (Greg Bell) of Clinton, Casey Ray of Clinton and Cristina (Michael) Maylee of Camanche; 10 grandchildren, Mallory (Paul), Stephen, Kyle, Alex, Michael, Kassidy (Justin), Bailey, Jared, Lila and Benjamin; a great granddaughter, Kallie; his mother Irene; 2 sisters, Georgina and Gladys and 4 brothers, Pablo, Francisco, Rene’, and Carlos all of Chile. He was preceded in death by his father, his wife, a granddaughter, Hattie Ruth and a brother, Alejandro.

Jorge’s family would like to thank the Borja family and the Sisters of St. Francis for sponsoring Jorge in his coming to America and to University of Iowa Oncology Unit, Dr. Aggarwal, and the staff at Mercy One and Eagle Point for their loving care.
