     Allan A. Walters, age 92, of Palatine, IL, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2019 at Rosewood Care Center of Inverness. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Clinton, IA. The family will greet guests beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton, IA.  Burial will take place immediately following, at St. Irenaeus Catholic Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Prince of Peace.  A separate memorial service will be held in Palatine, IL from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2019, with a program beginning at 4 p.m., at 450 E. Baldwin Road, Palatine, IL

 

     Allan was born in Monmouth, Illinois on September 25, 1926, the son of Frank and Florence (Pryce) Walters. He attended high school in Rock Island, IL. Allan married Louise Ehrhart on September 13, 1952 in Clinton Iowa. Allan was a proud World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corp from March 1945 to September 1946. He continued as a reservist until 1950. He worked as an engineer for Admiral Corporation in Galesburg, and served as mayor of Monmouth from 1961-1965, where he resided with his family for much of his life. In 1974, Allan moved to Palatine, IL where he continued to raise his family and resided there until his passing. Allan remained active in politics his entire life. He was involved in various business ventures and loved to work on his computer, invest in the market, and sell insurance. There was never a garage sale that he passed up.

 

     Allan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louise, 3 children, a son, Wayne (Janet) Walters of Port Byron, IL, 2 daughters, Tracey Walters of Chicago, IL, and Sandy (Patrick) Ryan of Eagle, CO; 8 grandchildren, Tarese, Talitha (John) Kali, Tristan, Nicole (Donato), Kristine, Sara and Emily; 2 great grandchildren, Genevra and Conor; 1 niece, Janice (Walters) Hale. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard (Carol) Walters, his parents, Frank and Florence Walters and a brother, Evan Walters.

Gathering of Friends

The family will greet guests beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton, IA. Burial will take place immediately following, at St. Irenaeus Catholic Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Prince of Peace.
