William J. “Bill” Geronzin age 69 of Clinton passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, April 30, 2018 at his home. In following Bill’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service with military rites will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. For those wishing to attend, the funeral procession will leave the Pape Funeral Home at 1:30 PM on Friday. Bill was born in Clinton on June 5, 1948, the son of Manuel and Wilma (Webb) Geronzin. He attended Clinton Schools. Bill served with the US Army during the Vietnam War. He married Debbi Furman. Bill owned and operated Bill’s Body Shop for 25 years. He was a member of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and writing children’s stories. He would help anyone in need and never had a closed door policy. Bill is survived by his wife, Debi; three children from a previous marriage, Shannon (Eric) Skiff of Clinton, William (Holly) Geronzin of Warner Robbins, GA and James Geronzin of Camanche; two step-daughters, Lacey (Seth) Baker of Fulton and Lyndsi (Tom) Godat of Clinton; three grandchildren, Christian, Alexander and Kole; five step-grandchildren, Hannah, Madly, Kiah, Talon and Finley; two sisters, Sharon Lee of Fort Dodge and Karolyn Geronzin of Clinton, a brother, David (Ann) Geronzin of Clinton and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jim, Bob and Alan. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

    To Bill’s family: I was very saddened to hear of Bill’s death. We knew each other from the Barn during high school years. He was a cute, nice guy with a gentle spirit and I have no doubt he was like that throughout his life. I only wish I had made contact later in life to tell him just that.
