Wallace "Wally" Alm - 89

          Wallace E. “Wally” Alm, age 89 of Camanche, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018at Mercy living Center North.  A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, November 16th at the Pape Funeral Home and from 9 AM until the Mass on Saturday at Prince of Peace.  Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Tom McClimon, Stephen Alm, Tony Foster, Todd Whitehead, Matt Boggess, John Riley, Joe Morgan and Joel Triphan.   Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com. 

 

     Wally was born in Camanche on April 21, 1929, the son of Floyd and Margaret (Lum) Alm.  He graduated from Richland High School in Richland, WA.  He served with the US Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War stationed in Germany.  Wally married Pauline Dollieslager on September 16, 1951 in St. Patrick’s Church, Colona, IL.  Pauline passed away January 14, 2017.  Wally was a Switchman and later a Conductor with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad retiring in 1989 after 34 years of service.

 

     Wally was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, a lifetime member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Union, the Knights of Columbus, Camanche VFW and AMVETS Post #28 where he served as trustee for 4 years.  He served as the NARVE District 67 President for 18 years and area director for NARVE for eight years.  Wally was a member of the former Odeon and Eagle’s Clubs.  He belonged to the Clinton and Camanche Bowling Associations, a member and Vice President of the 55+ Bowling League, the Clinton Solid Waste Commission and the Northeast Athletic Boosters.  He had served as an election judge and was an avid Cubs fan, as well as an active bowler and Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Bear follower. 

 

     Wally is survived by his daughters: Nancy (Bill) McClimon, Charlotte, Christy (Keevin) Foster, Clinton, sons: Bob (Twyla ) Alm, Camanche, and Dan Alm, DeBary, FL; grandchildren: Jill (Todd) McClimon-Whitehead, Tom (Nicole) McClimon, Stephen (Dawn) Alm, Jeff Alm, Cyanna (Matt) Boggess, Ashley (John) Riley, Mallory (Joe) Morgan, Abbi (Joel) Triphan, Molli Bachenberg (fiancé, Ryan Mercer), and Tony (Marisa) Foster; great grandchildren: Samantha, Blake, Zachary, Hunter, Trenton, Alexis, Rylee, Parker, Ella, Mirah, Cole, Addison, Maddox, Jordyn, Nile, Bryar, Melissa and Gracie.  He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline and twin great-great grandsons. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Parish or the AMVETS.

Visitation:

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, November 16th at the Pape Funeral Home and from 9 AM until the Mass on Saturday at Prince of Peace.

Mass:

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton.
