Robert E. Nixon age 88 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday Dec. 3, 2019 at MercyOne Medical Center, Clinton.  A private family service will be held Saturday Dec. 7th at 1:00 PM at the Pape Funeral Home, where the Clinton AMVETS will conduct military honors.  Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche.  Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

 

     Bob was born on June 21, 1931 in Clinton, the son of Arthur and Edna (Titus) Nixon.  He served in the US Navy during Korean Conflict as a mine sweeper engineer from 1951-1955.  Bob married Gwen Fuller on Nov. 28, 1951 in Clinton.  He was self-employed in property management in Clinton.  He enjoyed carpentry, boating, traveling, and his family was his life.  Bob was one of the founding board members and sponsor for the Clinton County Learning Disabilities and the Clinton County Special Olympics.  He was a member of the Clinton Landlord Association, Clinton Art Association – River Arts Center, Clinton Historical Society, Exodus II, A.R.C., and P.E.P.

 

     Bob is survived by his wife, Gwen Nixon of Clinton; three children, Kathleen (Jim) Cerling of Clinton, Stephen Nixon of Daytona Beach, FL, and Jeffrey Nixon of Clinton; three grandchildren, Dylan, West, and Anthony; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Marlene Thompson of Dewberry, FL.   He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arthur.

A private family service will be held Saturday Dec. 7th at 1:00 PM at the Pape Funeral Home, where the Clinton AMVETS will conduct military honors. Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche.
