Paul was born in Des Moines, Iowa on December 14, 1957.   He graduated from Hoover High School in Des Moines and later from Clinton Community College.  Paul married Pamela Metzger April 14, 1978 in Clinton. Pam passed away in July of 1984. He married Kristi Miller on August 27, 1994 in Clinton.  Paul was an agent with Iowa Bankers Association in Des Moines, IA.  He served on the Board of Director’s and was Past President of the Clinton Lumberkings Baseball Club and had been very active with the Riverboat Days Committee.  He was an official with all sorts of organizations; with the Iowa High School Boys and Girls Athletic Associations as well as the NAIA and NCAA associations in college.

He and Kris enjoyed taking the Harley out on long trips all across the midwest and seeing the sites. Paul loved to sing, whether it was at church or a local karaoke bar, he was able to provide joy to those fortunate to hear him. He was an avid sports fan and could be spotted at minor league or major league ballparks all over the country. His love of sports grew from being an athlete as a young kid, to coaching at all levels of sports. He was a college basketball and volleyball coach, but you could really see his coaching passion come through in the 20 plus seasons of coaching his children’s teams. More recently, you could see him at all of the Camanche Indians basketball games supporting the team any way he could. Most importantly, he loved doing all of these things with his family- and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Braden and Emery.

Paul is survived by his wife Kris; 5 children, Joshua (Hilary) Davis of Camanche, Isaac Davis of Iowa City, Solomon Davis of Seattle, Lucas (Lauren) Miller of Chicago and Whitney (Lindsay) Miller of New Jersey, as well as Tyler of Moline, and Jennifer of Dubuque; 2 grandchildren, Braden and Emery Davis; his sister, Kitty (John) Mehner of Orlando, and a brother, Mark Davis of Boston.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pamela; an infant daughter, Bethany; a brother, Dan and a sister, Bridgette. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com

I was like you know Paul for 40 years. From playing softball with him to him and the boys umpiring Mudcat baseball to being on the board of the Lumberkings and coaching against him in Clinton junior baseball. And all those 40 years I never saw Paul once get angry or upset or say a harsh word about anybody. The only time I ever saw him get upset or the 1996 When the major Pirates were beating his undefeated Red Sox. Paul help me on several of his home projects playing stone and he could've been quite a mason. He will be sorely missed by everyone he touched new him. Goodbye my friend until we meet again

My heartfelt sympathy to the Davis family and Clinton community.    Paul was a great parent and supporter of Lyons Middle School.  I am glad that I got to visit with him not long ago at one of Josh's games and see the pride and joy in his eyes as he talked about his family.  Though not there, I can sense the feeling of loss by the family and community.  God bless.

Prayers for peace and strength.  Paul was my partner in crime at IBIS for the past 12 years.  Our first day working together he shared pictures of all of you with me.  There was such pride and joy as he talked about each of you and your special gifts and talents.  Paul truly was one of the most genuine good guys you would ever meet.  Treasure your memories and know that you are loved.

My deepest condolences to the family during this sad time. I just met Paul three years ago, but quickly realized as time went by that he is such a joy to be around. I only worked with him in regards to volleyball, but he is one that can always be called upon to help the team. I know one thing for sure, he loves his family and is very proud of them; every conversation with him there is always a mention of his family.

Please try to be as strong as you all can be for each other during this time.

Kris and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband, father, and grandpa. Paul was such a great brother to me and so many others. As I read the other notes that people have shared about Paul, I find myself saying YES, that was certainly Paul!  Kind, generous, always willing to help others, big smile to brighten your day.  I am truly a better person for knowing Paul.  Our Iowa Region volleyball community will not be the same without you.  Thanks for the many faith talks - they were a blessing!

I will miss you brother, but only for awhile because one day I will see you again!  Rest in Peace!

I knew Paul through his association with Iowa Bankers Insurance and Services.  He made my job easier and he earned my utmost respect and appreciation as one of the people I could go to when I needed assistance with one of my health insurance clients.  He really knew his stuff!   Please know that his life did have a purpose and you can be proud that he did make a difference in bettering the lives of others. Even though he may not remain with us in body,  his spirit will live on forever.  Peace be with you all in your time of grief.

    Kris,

Our deepest symapthies and prayers for you and your family during this great loss.  When we heard of Paul's passing, it really shook both Sheri and I.  Paul was in our wedding party 30 years ago and was a great friend.  Even though we have not been able to see each other much over the past few years, with us living in NE Tennessee, whever we would find time to get together it was like we having never been away from Clinton.  Great memories with Paul,  Officiating softball games, playing both with and against him on the softball field as well as evenings having a few adult beverages at Rivefront Stadium.

    1 Thessalonians 4: 13-14

May God help ease the hurt.
