I am so sorry to hear this. I have known Michael for many years through an online game, and his avatar "Alkobor" was truly a good guy. We had many conversations a few years back, right before he stepped up as an officer, but I wasn't aware of his health condition. I agree it certainly does put life in perspective but more than that, it really puts Michael in perspective, i.e. it makes me respect him even more. For his dedication to SR and the people he served, and never once complained. May he enjoy eternal rest and may we one day meet again - Jill "Elvyssa"

i will miss you buddy, Michael was my wizard buddy in Everquest we spent many a night together playing he was a wonderful guy who never complained about much, he was very calm and peaceful and always ready to help on line, but i bet he was the same in life around his real friends, I only knew him from his Avatars Dundlemore and Alkobor but he was a great person there. My Avatar Flipmart is how he knew me but we always talked on Teamspeak and Ventrillo where he coordinated the wizards and we would talk about many things. Rest in Peace Mike.

Micheal was always willing to help.  I knew him as Dundlemore and he knew me as Ruabain.  I wish I had gotten to know him better.  He is gone to soon and will be missed.

I never met Michael in person, he was one of my EverQuest friends, I knew him best as Alkobor.  You can tell a lot about a person from the way they play a game.  He was one of those people whose many kindnesses were done quietly.  He was often the voice of reason when tempers flared or things went wrong.  As word of his passing spread, I heard from people who knew him from the game who have him on their friends' list still even though more than a decade had passed and they had moved to another server.  Each recounted things that Michael had done for them in the game that influenced their lives outside the game.  There is an old Scandinavian poem that includes this bit of wisdom: One thing I know that never dies/the fame of a man's deeds.  For those of us that knew him as Alkobor or Dundlemore he will remain a part of the community in our memories and story telling.
