     Isabelle M. Ray age 93 of Clinton, passed away Wednesday Aug. 29, 2018 at Mercy Living Center North, Clinton.  A mass will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday Sept. 4th at Prince of Peace Parrish.  Visitation will be held Tuesday 9:30 AM until the mass at the church.  Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery.  The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.      Isabelle was born on Sept. 11, 1924 in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Clarence and Henrietta (Goetsinger) Ostrander.  She attended the Immaculate Conception Academy for girls, run by The Franciscan Sisters of Mt. St. Francis Convent in Dubuque.  She graduated from the academy June 4, 1942.  She was a telephone operator.  Isabelle married Franklin Ray on June 14, 1945 in Dubuque, he died on April 3, 1979.  She worked as a nurse’s aide in many nursing homes for over 30 years.  She always visited the elderly neighbors.  Isabelle and her husband moved to Clinton in 1958. She enjoyed music, writing stories and giving parties to the senior citizens in her apartment complex.  Isabelle was a volunteer for the Varney Center.  She received a Governor’s Award for her volunteer work, presented to her on April 28, 1995. 

 

     Isabelle is survived by six children, David Ray of Clinton, Ellas Ray of Clinton, Donald Ray of Clinton, Julie Guilliams of Fenton, IL, Harry Ray of Clinton and Christine (Mark) Werner of Fulton, IL; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters and six brothers.   

Visitation:

Visitation will be held Tuesday 9:30 AM until the mass at the church.

Mass:

A mass will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday Sept. 4th at Prince of Peace Parrish. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
