Such a good, intelligent, witty man. I thoroughly enjoyed serving on the Human Rights Commission with him and was honored to nominate him for the MLK award in 2012 for his many goid works. R.I.P. dear Gene. Prayers of comfort for your family. Jennifer

Gene was my teacher at CCC. Loved all of his classes. Then I was honored to work with him at CCC for many years. He was always a happy, friendly man. He will be missed.

I am saddened by your loss. I went to CCC after high school in late 1970s. he was wonderful, I loved his class and he always joked and called me Sigmund. He was a wonderful teacher and a good role model. I lost track of him over the years but definitely did not forget him. You have my sympathy and prayers.

I met Gene when he came to us at the Courthouse as a voluntary Court Attendant. What a prize he was. When other counties realized what an excellent program we had initiated it was soon copied elsewhere. And the success of our volunteer program was in the personality and gifts of the man we chose, Gene Empson. Gene added so much with his gentle spirit, able to calm those coming in difficult times. He explained things and set folks at ease. And such a help to me personally, getting things organized each day. It was a smooth operation with Gene. He had such an engaging personality. He was fun to be around. A wonderful sense of humor, a man who loved words and ways of expressing things. Yes, he was the best, and loved by all. My sincere sympathy to Jean and their sons. I want you to know that Gene spoke of you with love and pride.
