Clinton, Iowa Fern M. Hartz age 94 of Clinton, passed away Monday June 12, 2017 at Mercy Living Center North. A Mass will be celebrated on Thursday 11:00 AM, June 15 at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be held Thursday 10:00 AM until the service hour at the church. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to Mercy Living Center North. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren. She married Ted Hartz on Nov. 1, 1947 in Clinton; he died in 1996. She and her husband owned and operated Hartz Cycle and Lock in Clinton for over 30 years. She enjoyed feeding the birds, attending to her house plants, and playing games with her family. Fern is survived by her three children, Linda Wenzel of Clinton, Sally (Larry) Nelson of Clinton, and Robert (Cindy) Hartz of Clinton; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a great-great grandson; a sister, Jane Dunlavy of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, a great granddaughter, her brother, two sisters, her son-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

Fulton, IL Kathleen M. “Kathie” Gregg, age 65 of Fulton, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Alverno Health Care Facility following a year long battle with cancer. In following Kathie’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A private celebration of Kathie’s life will be held on Thursday, June 15th at the home of her sister Deb.. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Kathie was born in Fremont, Nebraska on March 9, 1952, the daughter of John and Marie (Shanahan) Kruger. She married Wayne Gregg in 1986 in Crete, NE. Wayne passed away in 2012. Kathie was a member of the Eagle’s Club in Crete. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, cooking and gardening. Kathie is survived by a sister, Deb (Donald) Schumacher of Fulton; two brothers, Mike (Mary) Kruger of Dallas, TX and Christopher (DeeAnn) Kruger of New Braunfels, TX; two nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Amy and a brother, John Jr.

Clinton, Iowa Margot L. Clark age 32, of Clinton, passed away from injuries received in a motorcycle accident in Fulton on Sunday June 4, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the River Church in Clinton. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Wednesday June 7th at the Pape Funeral Home and from 10 AM until the service time on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to her daughter’s educational fund. Margot Leigh Clark was born on June 25, 1984 in Clinton, the daughter of Kenny and Shelley (Herrmann) Clark. She graduated from Clinton High School in 2002, where she was a member of the Iowa State Bowling Championship team. Margot graduated from Capri College in 2005 and received an Associate of Science degree from Clinton Community College in 2016. She was employed at the JC Penney Salon in Davenport and was also a distributor for Young Living Essential Oils. Margot was a member of the River Church and WINN of Bettendorf. She had a genuine love for her family and friends. Margot enjoyed bowling and was an avid Cubs fan. Margot is survived by her daughter Chasity Clark of Clinton; her mother Shelley Clark of Albany; her father Kenny Clark of Fulton; her sister Hilary (Jason) Jesudoss of Chicago; her grandparents Diane and Louie Reed of Clinton; her boyfriend Tim Davenport and his children McKenna and Hunter Davenport of Eldridge, and many cousins, aunts and uncles. He graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park, IL in 1952. He graduated from Milliken University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. He married Constance Hudson in 1955 in Evanston, IL. He later married Cindy Cotton on May 7, 1983 in Andover, IA. Richard worked as a salesman for his father’s business, Midland Industries in 1960 and later Midland Forge in Cedar Rapids, IA; he retired in 1997. Dick was an avid bicyclist, serving as a board member of the Hawkeye Bicycle Association and completing numerous RAGBRAIS. He enjoyed camping, hiking, bird watching, and playing racquetball. Richard enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye’s fan. Richard is survived by his wife, Cindy Cram of Clinton; five children, Scott (Barb) Cram of Shellsburg, IA, Greg Cram of Denton, TX, Sharolyn (Al) Dunham of Fredericksburg, VA, Penny (Matt) Jolly of Orlando, FL, and Emily (Matthew Adams) Cotton Cram of Dubuque, IA; five grandchildren, Brandon, Tonya, Erica, Ashley, and Nathan; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Corrine) Cram of Crested Butte, CO; and two half-brothers, John and Tom Cram. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church in Fulton. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Fulton. Honorary pallbearers are her nieces and nephews, Cathy Barten, Jim Novonty, Amy Beveridge, Emily McKeand, Jessica Alt, Tricia Sheridan, Erin Sheridan and Christopher Sheridan. Eileen was born in Clinton on May 3, 1953, the daughter of Dominic and Eileen (Green) Sheridan. She graduated from Fulton High School in 1971. Eileen married James Runge on September 19, 1980 in Clinton. Eileen was employed with Fidelity Life in Fulton, Kemper Life in Cary, IL, Sheridan Bookkeeping in Fulton and as an inspector with McCray Inspection Services in Clinton. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and Duck’s Unlimited. Eileen enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and liked to aquacise at the YWCA. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and followed the Iowa Hawkeyes. Eileen is survived by her husband Jim; a step-daughter, Julie (Dennis) Fehrenbach of Charlotte, NC; a grandson, Max; two sisters, Mary (Leonard) Novotny of Western Springs, IL and Kathleen (Dave) Harrison of Morrison; a brother, William (Linda) Sheridan of Lansing, NC and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James in infancy and a brother, Patrick.

Morrison, IL Donald E. “Don” Nice, age 69 of Morrison, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. In following Don’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded thru the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. A gathering of memories will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Bosma Funeral Home in Morrison. Burial will be at a later dated at the Bass Motel, Clam Lake, Siren, Wisconsin. Memorials in Don’s name may be made to Home of Hope or the Rock River Hospice. Don was born in Whiteside County on October 27, 1947, the son of Ellsworth and Marian Eleanor (Dykhuizen) Nice. He graduated from Morrison High School and received his apprentice education thru General Electric. He married Patricia Dunk on August 4, 1967 in Clinton. Don was an engineer at General Electric in Morrison until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling on Monday’s and Tuesday’s as well as golfing with his father. He enjoyed fishing and boating on the Mississippi. Don was a member of the 700 Bowling Club, the G.E. Men’s Club, the G.E. Golf League, Sterling/Rock Falls Horseshoe League and archery clubs with his wife. Don is survived by his wife, Patty; two children, Scott Nice and his loving companion, Ann Bittner of Sioux Falls, SD and Jamie Le (Braeden) Ward of Milwaukee; three grandchildren, Sabra Brea (Simion) Gilbert of Lincoln, NB, Storme (Jordan) Luna of Lennox, SD and Stellen Nice of Lennox, SD; three sisters, Janice (David) Mayes, Patricia (Darrell) “Growler” Onken and Kathy (Tom) Anderson all of Morrison. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Elaine Ballard and Lorraine Geesey.

Sandra was born July 6, 1954 in Clinton, Iowa and was the daughter of Fred (Diddy) and Alice ( Hannafan) Kohl Dever. She graduated from Clinton High School. Sandra served in the US Army for 10 years and was based in Seattle, WA. She was also a Veterinary Technician. Sandra is survived by her mother Alice Hannafan Kohl Dever, two sisters, one brother and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Fred Kohl; stepfather John (Russ) Dever; a sister and four brothers. Memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family.

Clinton, IA Shirley A. Sheridan, 94 of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to11:30 AM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church in Fulton, Il. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Cemetery in Clinton Iowa. Pallbearers will be Gary Seffrin, Joe VanderBeke, Adrian Alva, Mark Griswold, Pat Griswold and Dan Schmidt. Memorials may be directed to the Kahl Home of Davenport, Iowa. Shirley was born on November 20, 1922 the daughter of Henry and Mayme (Mulligan) Griswold. She graduated from Our Lady of Angels and attended Mt. St. Clare College and Clinton Community College. She was united in marriage to Paul J. Sheridan on September 13, 1947 at St. Boniface Church, Clinton, Iowa. Paul passed away on January 8th, 2001. Shirley worked as a medical assistant and technician at Schick Hospital. She assisted in establishing the Varney Senior Citizens Center and Activities. She retired in 1993 after 18 years at the Clinton County Auditor’s Office. She was an active member in the Catholic Church teaching religious education. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Boniface and St. Irenaeus. She chaired the monthly Senior Citizens Card Party at St. Irenaeus and was a Cub Scout leader and PTA volunteer. In her earlier days, she was an accomplished tennis player, enjoyed traveling and spending time with her Lhasa Apso, Muffin. Shirley cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Those left to honor her memory include her loving children, David Sheridan of Clinton, Iowa, Anne (Gary) Seffrin, Bettendorf, Iowa; grandchildren, Sarah (Joe) VanderBeke, Sioux Falls, SD, Elizabeth Seffrin, Cedar Falls, IA, Meghan (Adrian) Alva, Las Cruces, NM; two great grandchildren, Mia VanderBeke and Brayden Alva; step grandchildren, Jesse (Lauren) Adams and Heather Adams and a sister-in-law Ava McFarlin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, son Larry, and siblings Paul Griswold and Madonna Griswold. Her children would like to thank the Kahl Home and Mercy Medical Center for the compassionate care given to their mother. A very special thank you to Mary Jessen and Marian Bernstorf for their loving care, making it possible for our mother to stay in her home. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 18th at the Open Bible Fellowship Church, Morrison. Burial will be at a later date in Elvira Cemetery, Elvira, Iowa. Debra was born in Kearney, Nebraska on December 5, 1951, the daughter of David and Frances (Gillien) Troxel. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1970 and attended Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo. She married Thomas W. Stange on July 12, 1975 in Clinton. Debra had been employed at Mercy Medical Center, was a stay at home mom, and later worked at Northwest Fabrics and Sewing Machines and More. She was a very active member of the Open Bible Fellowship Church, Morrison. She was a member of the YWCA and Friends for Charity. She loved attending her granddaughter’s activities, sewing, golfing, bowling, baking, and being with her dog Sophia. Debra is survived by her husband Thomas; a daughter, Keitha Kjergaard (Clint Andresen) of Clinton; a son, Daniel Stange of DeKalb, IL; two granddaughters, Alyssa Pessman and Emma Kjergaard; a sister, Keitha Jean (Kevin) Sharps of Oskaloosa, IA; sister-in-laws, Jenny Troxel of Callaway, NB, Kathy (Ross) Filion of Heightstown, NJ, Kitty Willimack of Dewitt, and Linda Troxel of Clinton; many nieces and nephews, her dog Sophie and a grand dog, Roy. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Sidney, Keith and her twin David.
