After serving our country in the US Army, he returned to Clinton, where he met, fell in love, and married Donna Jean Farrell on May 20, 1947 at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Clinton. They lived a short time in Clinton before moving to the Farrell Farm in Goose Lake where he farmed until retiring in 1986 and moving back to Clinton. Bob was devoted to his faith and family. As each new grandchild was born into the family, he always made a comment that each child was a miracle and blessing from God. He enjoyed fixing things and helping others. There was no project he wouldn’t tackle. He often, with his brothers, would work on projects for their nieces and nephews. Each brother had their specialty skill, but each of them was always “in charge.” His farm was recognized as a Century Farm in 1976. Shortly after retirement, his interest turned to golfing. He took the sport quite seriously and could be found perfecting his scores on a daily basis, sharing time at Canyon Creek, Buck’s Barn, and Cross Creek. He proudly accomplished two “holes-in-one.” He looked forward to golfing trips with Jack, Phil, Brad, and Mike. Bob enjoyed music and bingo activities at The Alverno, where everyone knew who “Bingo Bob” was. The family would like to thank The Alverno staff for their loving care, especially in his final days. Bob is survived by his children, Sharon (Ted) Witt of Clinton, Jack (Terri) McDonnell of Omaha, NE, Larry (Joni) McDonnell of Clinton, Diane (Brad) Wendell of Clinton, Ken (Connie) McDonnell of Fulton, IL, and Don (Lynn) McDonnell of Parkview, IA; 20 grandchildren, Stacy (Tarron) Borgeson, Matt Witt, Phil (Katie) McDonnell, Lauren McDonnell, James (Casey) McDonnell, Kati (Duncan) Grinstead, Michelle (Wade) Anderson, Mike (Emily) Wendell, Heather (Curt) Vredevoogd, Rachel McDonnell, Ryan McDonnell, Payton McDonnell, and Shay McDonnell; 9 great grandchildren, Lexi and Noah Grinstead, Zachary and Zoey McDonnell, Cole Borgeson, Caden and Colin Anderson, Aleister Vredevoogd, and Layla McDonnell; two sisters, Natalie Regan of Calamus and Rita Turner of Clinton; his sister-in-law’s, Mae O’Neil of Camanche, Gloria McDonnell and Norma McDonnell both of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Dick (Beth) McDonnell of Verona, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna, and brothers, Bernard, Paul, Gerald, Eugene, and Charlie.

Lori A. Driscoll - 56

4/30/1961 - 7/26/2017
Clinton, IA Lori Ann Driscoll passed away on July 26, 2017 at 12:06 p.m. after a seemingly endless battle with cancer. Lori’s beautiful feisty spirit has joined her husband, Tim, and her father, Daniel, who greeted her at the gates of heaven with a Miller Light in hand for her to enjoy on her tour through her new home. Lori’s incredibly strong heart and will were a testament to her tenacious spirit as she continually thumbed her nose at death and anyone that would make mention of her impending demise. Heaven has a new Angel and she requires over-sized wings so she can fly to the highest of heights. In following Lori’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be from 1-2 PM Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Prince of Peace Parish. A Mass will be celebrated at 2 PM. Lori leaves three incredibly strong and brave young sons, Tyler, Ryan and Austin, who stood by her side trading wise cracks as they bonded as a family throughout her illness. They were, are and always will be “Driscoll Strong” and nothing will stand in the way of their love for each other and life. Tyler was the leader of Lori’s “Three Musketeers”. As the oldest he kept the other two rug rats in line and helped to shape the minds of the younger boys. In her final months Lori was able to proudly watch Ryan graduate from the University of Iowa and be pinned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army. Ryan was her strength and the bond they shared will forever guide him as he protects this great nation of ours. Her son, Austin, crystalized his mother’s spirit better than any of us could when he said, “She didn’t let her illness paralyze her from living her life.” In the spirit of this, Austin says he will carry on her incredible vitality and zest for life in everything he does. “I will make her proud,” he says. We say, mission accomplished, Shining Star, you already have. Lori also leaves three sisters (Terri, Patti and Julie), two brothers (Michael and David) and one brother-in-law (Michael Roggendorf) that she secretly loved the most! In her final days as the family joined together to celebrate her life she affectionately referred to the time they spent together as “weekend with the Weirdos!” Our Head Weirdo in Charge, our mother (DiAnn), stood tirelessly by her side as Lori valiantly fought her battle against cancer. Now one half of the Alverno’s “Thelma and Louise” has left us with the fondest of memories and our hearts filled with love for her. All us Weirdos send our beautiful sister and daughter so much love as she imparts on the greatest of all journeys. Lori’s inspirational spirit lives on in the hearts of her entire family and her dearest friends and each of us gives thanks for having another Angel over our shoulder protecting and guiding us. You are loved, Dear One. Go soar with the Angels!

Our Family Serving Yours...
