Clinton, Iowa Michael Jennings, 72, of Clinton, Iowa, died at home on September 6, 2017. Cremation rites have been accorded and per his wishes, no public services will be held. Online condolences may be left at As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton Public Library. Mike was born February 15, 1945, to Tom and Betty Jennings in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He married Helen (Wallingford) on February 4, 1967. Mike graduated from the University of Iowa and worked for the Social Security Administration for 34 years. After retirement, he worked as a paraprofessional with the Clinton Community School District. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Mike enjoyed playing cards, reading, traveling, cooking, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Mike had a great sense of humor and loved telling stories to his grandchildren. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Helen; children Jeff (Christian) of Cedar Rapids, Eric (Kasey) of Clinton, David (Kristin) of Clinton, and Anne Doherty (Dave) of Oak Park, IL; 10 grandchildren; a brother and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Michelle.

Garretson, SD Lynette I. Barten Fosdick Carnicle, age 57 of Garretson, South Dakota, formerly of Savanna, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, MN. A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Andover on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. Lynette was born in Maquoketa, Iowa on September 4, 1959, the daughter of Robert and Caroline (Krabbenhoft) Barten. She graduated from East Central High School in 1977. Lynette attended Clinton Community College and received her BA degree in 1981 from Marycrest College in Davenport, IA. Lynette married Jack Fosdick on May 20, 1983 in Andover. Jack passed away on September 20, 2010. She later married Dennis Carnicle on August 11, 2012 in South Dakota. While living in Savanna Lynette was employed with Facemakers, Sullivan’s, and later taught at Northwest Academy in Hanover, IL. Lynette is survived by her husband; five step-children, Kristi (Jeff) of South Dakota, Rebecca, Melissa, Matthew all of Colorado, and Michelle of Minnesota; two step-granddaughters, Teila and Teshia of South Dakota; four sisters, Lola Wilkens, Lila Dunning, Ronda (Tom) Tietjens and Rojean (Gary) Behrens all of Clinton; three brothers, Roy (Vi) Barten of Park Rapids, MN, Ron (Marcia) Barten of Calamus and Lloyd (Sandy) Barten of Miles; a sister-in-law, Jan Barten of Clinton and many nieces and nephews. Chandler, AZ Margaret Jean Krajewski age 89, of Chandler, AZ, formerly of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Chandler, AZ. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery in Clinton. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Jean was born on September 28, 1927 in Chicago, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Harkins) Fiedler. She married Bruno Krajewski on October 8, 1949 in Lansing, IL. Bruno passed away on September 19, 1993. Jean is survived by two daughters; Nancy and Karen; a son, Greg; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a daughter Cynthia.

Clinton, Iowa David L. Williams, 63, of Clinton, passed away while enjoying his favorite pastime on August 19, 2017. His immediate family gathered and enjoyed the eclipse in his honor and there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Online condolences may be left at David was born on February 14, 1954 in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Dave and Mary (Zastro) Williams. He was a 1972 graduate of Clinton High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. David married Karen Mohr in 1979 and together had three children; Alicia, Jennifer and David. He was employed with Metal Tech for many years. He enjoyed many things, his favorites being camping, fishing, the St. Louis Cardinals and most importantly loved being around his family. David is survived by his wife Karen Williams; two daughters, Alicia and Jennifer; one son David, all of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; four sisters, Kate, Carol, Caren and Mary; two brothers, Bill and Tom; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a grandson and a nephew. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Clinton, IA Lois F. Cunningham age 93 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Clinton, passed away Saturday August 19, 2017 in Cedar Rapids, IA, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday August 26th at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Meth-Wick Community, 1224 13th St. NW in Cedar Rapids, IA 52405. Lois was born on September 28, 1923, the daughter of Herman and Ruby (Krebs) Holm. She graduated from Lyons High School in Clinton. She married Joseph Cunningham December 25, 1960; he died January 26, 1997. She was a telephone operator in Lyons, and worked for Doctor King and Doctor Rogers at the Main Avenue Medical Clinic. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she was active in the sewing circle. She and Joe traveled throughout the country enjoying several bus trips. She lived “north of the big tree” most of her life until moving to Sarah Harding Home and then Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids. Lois is survived by her son, Robert (Molli) Cunningham of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Sarah (David) Jackman of Asbury, IA and Alex Cunningham of Davenport, IA; and a great grandson, Dexter Jackman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother. The family would like to thank the staff at Meth-Wick Community for taking such loving care of Lois in her final years.

Doris is survived by her husband, Carl House of Clinton; three children, Dea (Chris Carter) Prince, Carla House, and Billy (Amber) House all of Clinton; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a brother, Hank (Grace) Pawski; and a special friend, Mary Ortega of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a sister.

Patricia was born in Clinton on October 14, 1941, the daughter of Joseph and Nettie (Simons) Frank. She married Thomas Hudson on August 4, 1961 in Clinton. Thomas passed away on January 2, 2001. Patricia had been employed at International Paper and later with the Mississippi Belle II and Walmart. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, bowling, crocheting, singing and dancing. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Tonette (Troy Yoder) Carter of Clinton; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Garrett Carter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter Jada; a special son, Michael Parker; two brothers, Jack and Joseph Frank and a sister, Mary Smith.

Clinton, IA Garrett L. Behrens, 86 of Clinton, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. A private family service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017. Garrett was born July 10, 1931 in Clinton, the son of William “Bill” and Lela (Bryant) Behrens. He graduated Lyons High School in 1950. Garrett was a Boy Scout and became an Eagle Scout on November 17, 1946. He married Margaret Jean Marr on September 9, 1951 in Clinton. Garrett was a Sergeant with the Iowa National Guard. He worked for Clinton Corn as a boiler house foreman for 32 years and then managed the Clinton Travelodge for 10 years until retiring. Garrett was a Mason for over 50 years, a member of Grand Lodge of Iowa A.F. and A.M., Emulation Lodge 255, and a Kaaba Shriner from May 1964 and Kaaba Oriental Shrine Band where he played the drums. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clinton and the Cherokee Village Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village, AK. Garrett’s greatest joy was his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He cheered for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the St. Louis Cardinals. Garrett enjoyed fishing, golfing, and swimming. Garrett is survived by his wife Margaret; a son Randy (Mary) Behrens of Clinton; a daughter Cindy Lou (Rick) Tomman of Fulton, IL; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and a sister, Connie (Richard) Mosher formerly of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Kevin Mosher.

Monday, August 14th at the Pape Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00 P.M. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Sam was born in Seoul, South Korea on June 23, 1940. She married Gene B. Tingley on May 13, 1964 in Seoul. Gene passed away on July 26, 1996. She had been employed at Swift and Company and later owned and operated Sam and Yong Oriental Restaurant with her daughter. She was a member of the Grave Korean Church in Moline. She enjoyed bowling and fishing. Sam is survived by four children; Yong Grinstead of Clinton, Hyung Nam (Sharone) Tingley of Clinton; Rose Tingley of Las Vegas and Victor (Eileen) Tingley of New Port Richey, FL; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers in South Korea and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He married the love of his life of 43 years, Donna Davis on Dec. 20, 1981 in Clinton. He was certified as a diesel and marine mechanic on inboard and outboard boat engines his whole life. Terry enjoyed boating on the Mississippi river, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family. Terry is survived by the love of his life, Donna Jordan of Clinton; eight children, Larry (Val) Bruggenwirth, Terry (Lorrie) Bruggenwirth, Glen and Marty Wilslef, Tammy (Douglas) Bengston, Stan and Tony (Joni Scheper) Davis, and Terry L. (Jami) Jordan; 25 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; his brother, Larry “Bub” (Teresa) Jordan; his two sisters, Nancy (Cy) Eckelberg and Linda (Dan) Harvey; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two step-sons, Steve and Mark Bruggenwirth.
