Clinton, Iowa Stephen M. Wilden age 50 of Clinton, passed away Saturday April 1, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday April 6th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday 4 – 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Steve Redding, Dale Appel, David Wilden, Jamie and Jeff Wiebenga, and Mark Wiebenga. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom and Todd Wiebenga. Stephen was born on Feb. 28, 1967 in Clinton, IA, the son of Maurice and Kathy (Wiebenga) Wilden. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1985. He attended Marshalltown Community College for Machinist and Tool & Die. He worked for Custom-Pak for over 27 years in the tool & die department as a mold maker. He enjoyed boating, fishing, bicycling, and working on his cars. He liked the Pittsburgh Steelers and of course the Nebraska Corn Huskers. He was a Nascar Kurt Busch fan. Stephen is survived by his two daughters, Nicole and Tara Wilden both of Charlotte, IA; his mother, Kathy Wilden of Clinton; a sister, Laura Wilden of Waverly, IA; and a half-brother, Joseph Wilden of Clinton; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a nephew, Wyatt. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and several uncles.

He graduated from Clinton High School. He married Hallie Dusenberry on Oct. 19, 1946 in Muscatine, IA; she died in 2014. He worked at General Electric as a set-up man in the plastic molding department for over 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and watching the eagles at the lock-n-dam. Charles is survived by his two sons, David and Douglas Howes of Fulton, IL; a grandson, Phillip (Toni) Howes of Camanche; two great grandchildren, Catarina and Charlie; four sisters, Judy Libberton of Clinton and Joyce (Dave) Lutz of Rapid City, IL., Peggy Schlue of Davenport, and Mary (Tim) Harrington of Albuquerque, NM and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a son, Chuck, and two brothers, Tom and Clyde.

Steven was born on Oct. 10, 1956 in Clinton, the son of Arthur “Smokey” and Alyce (Scott) Sager. He worked in upholstery most of his life. He was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ. He enjoyed playing billiards, fishing, outdoors, bicycling, and with his frisbee. Steven is survived by his sister, Barbara Sager of Freeport, IL; his brothers, Robert Sager of Morrison, IL, Don Sager of Clinton, and Rich Sager of St. Louis, MO; his parents, Peggy (Eldo) Krebs of Clinton; a step-brother, Kerry Avery of Clinton; his nieces and nephews, Marrisa, Jason, Matthew, Alysia, Jeremy, and Aaron; and three great nephews, Jayden, Jarod, and Jaxsyn. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and grandparents.

Lyda P. McGrath - 92

Clinton, IA Lyda P. McGrath, age 92 of Clinton, went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. A Mass will be celebrated at 9 AM on Saturday April 1st, at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Friday at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Lyda was born in Cedar Rapids on August 5, 1924 the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Henderson) Oakfield. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1942 in Cedar Rapids. Lyda married Frank McGrath on May 26, 1946 in Cedar Rapids. She always said he was her only true love. Frank sadly passed away on March 21, 2016 just shy of their 70th wedding anniversary. She had worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids prior to her marriage. Lyda was a school crossing guard at Elijah Buell School in Clinton. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, the AMVETS Auxiliary and had served with the PTA. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and going camping. Lyda and Frank enjoyed traveling and had visited all 48 contiguous states. Lyda is survived by two sons, James (Robin) McGrath of Parkersburg, WV and Danny (Geralyn) McGrath of Clinton; five grandchildren, Andrew (Katie Player) McGrath, Tracy (Travis) Smith, Darby (Stormi) McGrath, Jaime (Mike) Hilsenbeck and Jolinda (Pat) Burr; two great granddaughters, Amelia Smith and Kelsie Hilsenbeck, one great grandson Kagen Hilsenbeck and a very special friend Annette Lyons. The family would like to give a special thanks to Leigh Ann and the staff at the Alverno. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, and two brothers.

Clinton, Iowa Gary S. Munson, Sr. age 75 of Clinton, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Bickford Cottages of Clinton, due to complications from underlying disease processes. A memorial service will be held from 11:00 AM Friday March 31st at the Pape Funeral Home. A gathering of friends and family will be held Friday 10:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Following the memorial service a luncheon will be held at the Community Congregational Church U.C.C. next door to the funeral home. No graveside services are planned. Gary was born in Clinton on December 23, 1941, the son of Albert “Obbie” and Marion (Wilson) Munson. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1960 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Dubuque in 1964. He married Kay Fromang on November 9, 1962 in Dubuque. Kay passed away tragically on April 15, 2009. He missed Kay tremendously, while still grieving the emotional, sudden loss of his son, David, age 21. Gary was employed at Standard Brands in Clinton from 1964 to 1971. He was production manager at Ralston Purina from 1971 to 1984 and was then employed at National By-Products from 1984 until his retirement. He also owned and operated the Wheel-Inn Marina in Sabula from 1979 to 1983. After his retirement, his days were spent helping others through his business, Munson Construction, until 2010. Gary was an active, busy person, rarely seen relaxing, during his active years. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and they were a huge focus of his life, as he was of their lives. Gary was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Thirteeners Fraternity (13ers) at the University of Dubuque. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, being on the river scavenger hunting, and spending time with his buddy Ray Wiersema, fraternity brother, Harlan “Fish” Fischer, friend Tom Palsgrove, and family friends, Bonnie and Harley Dubeck. He liked going to car swap meets, and was an avid Arnie Beswick memorabilia collector. He also supported the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeyes where his granddaughters attend college. Gary is survived by his son, Gary S. Munson, Jr. Clinton; his daughter, Kaylyn “Lyn” (Jeff) Dickinson of Clinton; foreign exchange daughter, Catherine (Philippe) Chevassut of Paris, France; five grandchildren, Alexis, Erin, Mackenna, Annelise and Matthew; a sister, Judy (Jack) Phillips of Chandler, AZ, a special cousin Steve "Brody" Wilson, and nieces; Patrea (Troy) Aeschliman, Jennifer Johnson, nephews; Brad (Tammy) Johnson, Mike (Dana) Phillips, Troy (Kacey) Phillips. He was preceded in death by his wife Kay; his parents, and a son, David on August 14, 1988.

Clinton, Iowa Ralph W. Thompson, age 86 of Clinton, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 at his home. In following his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. There are no services planned. Burial will be at a later date in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Ralph was born in Spring Valley, IL on February 15, 1931, the son of Ralph L. and Alma (Wiese) Thompson. Ralph married Helen Morton on February 17, 1952 in Chillicothe, OH. He served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart for wounds received in action. He was employed at Northwestern Bell retiring in 1984. Ralph and Helen enjoyed spending winters in Arizona before finally moving there for 17 years and returning to Clinton in 2015. They had traveled to every state but Hawaii and Alaska. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and was a jack of all trades who enjoyed photography and woodworking. Ralph is survived by his wife Helen; two sons, Marvin (LaVonne) Thompson of Clinton and Ray (Sandra) Thompson of Washington, IL; three grandchildren, Jessica Craig, William Thompson and Taylor Thompson; six great grandchildren, Brecken, Broden, Zachery, Marin, Liam and Guinevere and a nephew, David Christiansen of Blue Island, IL. Cleora was born on the family farm near Miles, Iowa on November 15, 1927, the daughter of Clarence and Melinda (Roeh) Petersen. She graduated from Miles High School. Cleora married Harold Adams on January 31, 1953 in Clinton. Harold passed away on June 17, 2012. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her and Harold enjoyed traveling and spending time in Arizona. Cleora is survived by her daughter, Lynne Reese of Machesney Park, IL; two grandchildren, Michele (Justin) Weide of Phoenix, AZ and Drew (Nikki Johnson) Reese of Rockford; a sister, Myrna (Ken) Dann of Camanche and several nieces and nephews. She owned and operated Helen’s Beauty Shop on Main Ave. for many years. Helen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge, and Odeon Club. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Helen is survived by her two sons, Allen (Nancy) Christiansen of Fulton, IL and Reynold (Marcia) Christiansen of Clinton; four grandchildren, Angela (Doug) Tegeler, Robert Christiansen, Kelly (Quentin) Stark, and Tracy (Corey) Bredekamp; five great grandchildren, Shawn, Allison, Dylan, Rowan, and Lincoln; and a sister, Esther Petersen of Miles, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Violet was born in Sabula, Iowa on December 28, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Helen (Jess) Huebner. She married Melvin Reimer on March 1, 1953 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clinton. Melvin passed away on July 1, 2011. Violet had been employed at Sears and later with J.C. Penney. She enjoyed reading Danielle Steel books, gardening, watching the birds in her yard, collecting owls and following the Iowa Hawkeyes. Most of all she loved her family dearly. Violet is survived by a son, Marlin (Carol) Reimer of Brownsburg, IN; a daughter, Vicky (Dennis) Kroymann of Miles; five grandchildren, Mark (Shari) Reimer of Flower Mound, TX, Sara (John) Diekelmann of Des Moines, Rebecca Kroymann of Clinton, Stephanie (Jason) Jacobsen of Riverside, IA and Jessica (Sahand Faghihi) Kroymann of Fishers, IN; three great grandsons, Brilan and Bakstin Reimer, Logan Jacobsen, with baby Diekelmann on the way. He was married to Rosie Judge for 22 years and the couple raised three children. He was then married to Lisa Schrader for 19 years and the couple later divorced. Stephen was employed in the Litho Department as a Pressman at International Paper for more than 30 years, retiring when the plant closed in 2001. He was employed at Mufflers, Inc. for many years as well as a Security Guard with Wild Rose Casino for more than five years. Stephen was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid NASCAR fan. Stephen is survived by two sons, Mark (Heather) Cooley and their children JT, Makenzie, Maddux & Cooper of Clinton and Tony (Kristine) Cooley and their children Drew, BJ and Brooklyn of Clinton; one daughter, Laurie Soesbe and her children Abby, Libby and Erin of Clinton; four brothers, Jeff (Ellen) Cooley of Clinton; Charles (Barb) Cooley of Clinton; Tom (Jeanette) Cooley of Norcross, GA; Paul (Lorine) Cooley of Auburn, GA; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Also, special friends, Jon Abbott and MaDonna Chase both of Clinton, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to the family.
